2027: No Alternative to Tinubu — Northern Minorities
… Two million–man march on Abuja soon … Opposition leaders have endorsed President
Despite growing resentment against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration ahead of the 2027 general elections, a coalition of northern ethnic minority groups has declared that there is no vacancy in Aso Rock come 2027.
Speaking at a press conference in Abuja on Sunday , the Kakaaki Bassange Chief Jacob Edi who is the leader of “Northern Minorities 4 TInubu” said the group stands firmly behind Mr President’s re-election bid, stressing that he would return unopposed.
Chief Edi insisted that even opposition governors — Alex Otti (Abia), Caleb Muftwang (Plateau), Ademola Adeleke (Osun), Peter Mbah (Enugu), and Charles Soludo (Anambra), among others — have “seen reasons why Tinubu cannot be challenged in 2027.”
“Since 1999, we have not seen anything like this,” he declared.
Dismissing criticisms from some northern elites, the coalition described itself as the true majority of the North, rejecting what it called “falsehoods” against the President.
“How can anyone, in good conscience, say Tinubu is anti-North?” Edi asked. “The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Minister of Defence, National Security Adviser, Chief of Defence Staff, GMD of NNPCL, MD of Ajaokuta Steel Company, and the Minister of Information and National Orientation are all northerners. Or is there another North unknown to us?”
The group highlighted the creation of the North-West and North-Central Development Commissions, and the appointment of an indigene of the FCT into the Federal Executive Council, as unprecedented gestures of inclusion.
Quoting Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa, Edi said:
“From critical infrastructure development to significant strides in agriculture and security, the President has demonstrated an unparalleled commitment to the welfare and progress of Northern Nigeria.”
He announced that preparations were underway for a two million–man march in Abuja, with northerners from all 19 northern states expected to participate, to demonstrate their loyalty to President Tinubu.
“Yes, Nigerians are feeling the pain of reforms. We are too. But these pains are like labour pains — temporary, necessary, and leading to something greater… a bundle of joy. When the results fully manifest, this country will look back and thank Tinubu for the courage to act,” he said.
The coalition further disclosed plans to launch mobilisation chapters across the 19 northern states ahead of 2027.
“Let it be known today: in 2027, the North will deliver not just victory, but an authoritative, crushing victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” Edi concluded.
