Emeritus Editor of Business Times, West Africa magazine, and the Daily Times, Chief Onyema Ugochukwu, FNGE, CON, has been honoured with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award by Vanguard Newspapers. The award recognizes his outstanding contributions to the growth and development of the Nigerian media landscape.
The award ceremony took place on Friday, April 11, 2025, at the Eko Hotels and Suites, Ikoyi, Lagos. The award was presented to Chief Ugochukwu by His Imperial Majesty, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, in a moment filled with pride and celebration. Chief Ugochukwu was joined on stage by his wife, Dr. (Mrs.) Joyce Ugochukwu, as they received the honour together.
In addition to his remarkable journalism career, Chief Onyema Ugochukwu served as the Pioneer Chairman of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) from January 2000 to May 2005, where he played a pivotal role in laying the foundation for sustainable development in the Niger Delta region.
