Uganda

Road Mishap Claims 63 Lives In Uganda

A road mishap has claimed more than 63 persons in Uganda.

The accident happened on Tuesday on a major highway between the capital, Kampala, and Gulu.

Many others were also reportedly wounded in the crash which initially involved two commercial buses that rammed into each other from opposite directions.

Witnesses said the wounded were promptly taken to hospital.

Sudan.

Despite Security Threats, Khartoum Airport Reopens Today.

Sudanese authorities say they are going ahead with the plan to reopen the country ‘s main aviation facility, the Khartoum International Airport, two years after it was shut up operational activities.

The decision to reopen the facility comes a day after the city housing it and capital of the country, Khartoum, came under heavy gunfire, including drone strikes, bwhich the government blamed on the rebel Rapid Support Forces,( RSF).

Both the RSF and the Sudanese Government Forces have been locked in an intense civil war that had led to 130,000 fatalities and the displacement of around 12 m persons, over the past two years.

The government hopes that the reopening of the airport, which it retook from the RSF, would send a positive signal to the global community.

Already, two major flights are booked for today at the facility which, in the interim, will handle only local flights.

The repair of the facility cost around $3 million .

Qatar

Turkish President Erdogan, Begins Visit To Qatar

The President of Turkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has started a far- fetched visit to Qatar.

The visit comes days after both countries, signatories to, and facilitators of the Israeli / Palestinian Ceasefire deal, strongly condemned Israel for breaching its terms.

During the visit, Erdogan and his host and Emir of the Emirate of Qatar, will hold talks on strengthening their cooperation, and, as signatories to the ceasefire deal, that Israel keeps faith with its terms, especially regarding the volume of humanitarian aid getting into the strip.

Also up for discussions between Erdogan and Emir Sheikh Tani Hamnad Al-Thani are their countries’ mutual security cooperation, the reconstruction of both Gaza and Syria and the procurement of Typhoon jet fighters from Qatar.

America , a member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO,), just like, Turkiye, has refused to sell the advanced fighter jet, the F-35, to Ankara, because it had secretly accessed the dreaded C- 200 missiles from Russia.

The missile is the only one capable of downing F-35 and other advanced jets.

America fears that selling the F-35 jets to Turkiye, which sbhors Israel’ s alleged hegemonic inclinations in the Middle East, could help erode the strategic military advantage the Jewish state enjoys over the rest of the region.

Though Turkiye has an advanced local military industrial complex, it still pales in terms of military capacity, relative to Israel which has a large stock of advanced military assets from America and the rest of the West, and a huge stock of the dreaded nuclear weapon.

Though not officially listed as a nuclear power state, Israel is believed to have around 300 nuclear war heads developed and built with Western collaboration.

Aside from Israel, North Korea is the only rogue nuclear state in the world, though its actual holdings remain unknown because of the secrecy of its nuclear programme.

The efforts of Iran to develop nuclear weapons havebbeen thwarted by the West, led by America which fears that a military nuclear- status Iran could overwhelm Israel in the event of a military combat.

France

Louvre Museum Reopens After Sunday Heist

The world ‘s busiest museum , the Louvre Museum, has reopened to the public after the still.mysteious breach of its security on Sunday.

The facility, which had one of the most fortified security webs in all of France, was breached on Sunday by still mysterious burglars who used a ladder to climb its upper reaches and, in just four minutes, stole nine iconic jewels, before vanishing.

The jewels included one given to his wife and queen by the iconic French Emperor, Napoleon Bonaparte.

Since the broad daylight burglary , the manhunt for the fleeing thieves has intensified, with President Emmanuel Macron vowing that no stone would ‘be left unturned in the search for thosd behind the heist.

Before Sunday’s incident, the Museum haf been burgled in 1911 when the painting, Mona Lisa, was stolen.

The priceless art work of Italian artist, Sir Leonardo Da Vinci was later recovered.

Netherlands

ICJ To Offer Advisory Opinion On Israel’s Gaza Humanitarian Policies

The international Court of Justice ,ICJ, in the Hague, The Netherlands, is due to give its advisory opinion on the humanitarian policies of Israel in the embattled enclave of Gaza.

This followed the suit brought before the court by the ICJ by 40 countries which want the court to rule on whether the conduct of the Jewish state did not, ab initio, constitute a genocide on Gazans.

Though non- binding , the opinion will enable member+ stares of the United Nations (UN) formulate their responses to the conduct of Israel.

The instituting countries accuse Israel of weaponising food and other humanitarian consumables, by restricting their ready availability, hence generally starving the civilian population of essentials, against the spirit of international convention and law.

The court had, in its earlier rulings , found Israel culpable and advised it to end its illegal occupation of Palestine.

But Israel, backed by America, dismissed the ruling , and has yet to comply.

America has even sanctioned officials of the court for ruling against Israel.

America

Trump Raises Fresh Hope Of Putin Meeting

Days after officials of the White House seemed to foreclose it, indications have emerged that a summit of both American and Russian leaders is still on the card.

America. President, Trump, himself raised the prospects during a media meet.

He set no deadlines but said that a meeting between himself and Vladimir Viktor Putin could hold within weeks.

He said that there was an urgent need to end the war between Ukraine and Russia, given what he termed its huge fatality rate.

He claimed that no fewer than 7,000 soldiers from both sides were either being killed or wounded every week.

According to him, both Russian leader, Putin, and his Ukrainian counterpart,Wolodymr Zelensky, want the war to end, though Russia insists on a long term variant, compared to Ukraine’ s ceasefire preference.

Ukraine

Six Die In Overnight Russian Strikes- Zelensky

The President of Ukraine, Wolodymr Zelensky, has said that more than six persons were killed in overnight Russian strikes on the capital city of Kiyev.

He said that the dead included two children, whose ages he did not give.

The overnight strikes set alight many residential and other buildings in the capital city, while there were also major strikes on Zaporitzhia, which is host to the biggest nuclear power plant in Europe.

The strikes came roughly a week after Zelensky failed to get Trump’s approval to bury the Tomahawk missiles that could be used to strike targets deep inside of Russia.

Russia

Ukraine Strikes Russia ‘s Chemical Plant

Ukraine has struck a core chemical plant in Russia, its officials said today.

Officials said that a facility for the production of gunpowder and other critical inputs in the military complex were hit in the Bryansk Region of Russia.

There were no independent or Russian confirmation of the strike claims , but they come as other Western media reported another successful Ukraine strike in the neighbouring Kursk Region.

Kursk , which has a huge naval facility, was earlier invaded and occupied by Ukrainian troops who have since been dislodged by Russian soldiers backed by North Korean mercenaries.

The Western media reports said the Kursk strike was accomplished by the use of a British made Storm Water Missile.
Neither Russia, Ukraine nor Britain had commented on the alleged strike, at press time.

Peru

Lima Under State of Emergency

Lima, capital of Peru, is now officially under a staff of emergency.

The direct implication of this is that civil law is temporarily suspended, and law enforcement and security officers would not be in charge.

The declaration was made by President Jose Peri, who said it was to deal with the rising insecurity in the city.

Insecurity in the city had been typified by recent violent anti- government protests in which at least one person was killed and more than 100 wounded, some seriously, last week.
The protesters had been calming for more clement social and economic circumstances.
