NDDC MD’s Associate Denies Allegations of Coup Plot Involvement
A close associate of the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, has dismissed reports alleging his involvement in a purported coup plot, describing the claims as “wicked and malicious.”
The associate said the allegations were part of a calculated attempt to tarnish Ogbuku’s image, undermine his achievements, and destabilise the commission.
According to him, Ogbuku’s success in fostering peace and promoting development in the Niger Delta has unsettled certain political interests in Bayelsa State.
“These individuals are desperate to discredit Dr. Ogbuku’s achievements and are using false narratives to achieve their goals,” he said.
Under Ogbuku’s leadership, the NDDC has made significant progress in addressing infrastructure challenges and managing expectations across the region. His commitment to aligning the commission’s programmes with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda has also yielded visible results.
“Dr. Ogbuku is fully committed to his responsibilities and continues to enjoy the full support of President Tinubu,” the associate added. “These baseless allegations will not deter him from delivering on his mandate.”
He noted that the NDDC remains focused on its mission to drive sustainable development in the Niger Delta region.
“As the commission continues to deliver on its core mandates and on the Renewed Hope Agenda of the President, it will not be distracted by unnecessary controversies instigated by those who do not mean well for the commission, its Managing Director, or the nation,” he said.
