Bomadi Local Government of Delta State has adopted measures to ensure enhanced safety and security of lives and property across communities in the local government area for a peaceful Yuletide celebration.
It has, thus instituted a committee for that purpose.
The Committee is saddled with the task of ensuring strict security measures, and it comprises officers of the Military Joint Task Force ( JTF), Nigeria Police Force and members of the Bomadi Local Government Vigilante with the goal of curbing insecurity as theft , cultism , and other forms of social vices.
In a statement , Bomadi Local Government Chairman, Hon Dagidi Rawlings Andaye, said the 24- hour operational period of the committee is intended to ensure that communities in Bomadi local government area remained safe and secure, and affirmed his dedication to the safeguard of citizens and property.
The Chairman also banned the use of fireworks and explosives during the Yuletide season in Bomadi local government area.
While re-affirming the directives of the directives of the Inspector- General of Police on the ban placed on knockout and other explosive used during the Yuletide, Andaye stressed that the aim was to prevent criminals from using it as a disguise to rob and threaten the peace of the community .
He urged residents in Bomadi to cooperate with security personnel and report any suspicious activities , emphasizing the “if you see something , say something” mantra, Hon Andaye assured that the Joint Patrol Team would work tirelessly to ensure a safe and peaceful Yuletide season for all law -abiding residents .
The Chairman also said that , “as citizens , we have a duty to cooperate and assist our security personnel in their efforts to keep us safe . We are reminded that security is everybody’s responsibility , and we must work together to maintain peace and stability in our community”.
Andaye appealed to youths resident in the area to maintain and sustained peaceful living, adding that the Yuletide is a season of celebrations marking the birth of Jesus Christ who brought love, joy and peace to the entire world.
