The Federal Government has announced the deployment of Nigerian ambassadors to various countries, fulfilling President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s pledge to strengthen the nation’s diplomatic presence abroad.
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, disclosed this while addressing concerns over delays in ambassadorial postings, noting that the move responds to sustained public and diplomatic demands for the appointment of envoys to represent Nigeria’s interests overseas.
The development follows the recent confirmation of 64 ambassadorial nominees by the Senate after a comprehensive screening exercise conducted by the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs. Among those confirmed are prominent figures such as Femi Fani-Kayode, Reno Omokri, and former Minister of Defence, Abdulrahman Dambazau.
According to the government, the deployment of ambassadors is expected to significantly enhance Nigeria’s diplomatic engagements, deepen bilateral and multilateral relations, and advance the country’s economic, political, and cultural interests across the globe.
The Minister explained that while substantial progress has been made in the posting process, some administrative and logistical steps remain and will be concluded in 2026. He assured Nigerians that the Federal Government remains committed to ensuring that the country’s diplomatic missions are fully staffed, effective, and capable of promoting Nigeria’s strategic interests internationally.
