The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) declares unequivocally that 2027 presents Nigerians with a clear choice: continued suffering under a failed administration or rescue and renewal under the PDP.
In his New Year message to Nigerians, the National Chairman of the PDP, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN, stated that the ruling party has exhausted its legitimacy, having plunged the country into unprecedented hardship through incompetence, arrogance, and anti-people policies.
Under the current administration, Nigerians have been subjected to economic brutality: the reckless removal of fuel subsidy without preparation or consultation, the disastrous floating of the naira that has wiped out savings and purchasing power, unbearable electricity tariffs, and a barrage of crippling taxes that are choking households and businesses alike. These policies have deepened poverty, destroyed livelihoods, and widened inequality.
Turaki stressed that Nigerians are not suffering because the country lacks resources, but because it lacks responsible leadership. He noted that the ruling party has chosen propaganda over governance and repression over empathy, while millions struggle daily to survive.
The PDP Chairman reminded Nigerians that it was not always this bad. Under PDP governments, Nigeria experienced relative economic stability, rising investor confidence, expanding infrastructure, agricultural growth, and hope for a better tomorrow. Nigeria became Africa’s largest economy, attracted global investments, and recorded tangible progress in rail transportation, technology, and food production.
While the PDP is currently facing internal challenges deliberately fuelled by agents and proxies of the ruling party, Turaki assured Nigerians that these distractions will not derail the party’s historic mission. The PDP, he said, remains the most experienced, most national, and most prepared political platform to rebuild the country.
He called on Nigerians to reject despair, resist deception, and prepare for national rescue in 2027, stressing that the PDP stands ready to restore economic sanity, people-focused governance, and national dignity.
“The suffering of Nigerians is not destiny,” Turaki declared. “It is the result of bad leadership, and bad leadership can be changed.”
The PDP urges Nigerians to remain resolute, hopeful, and united as the party works to end the era of pain and reclaim Nigeria for the people.
