The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has firmly dismissed reports claiming it has released the timetable for the 2027 General Election, describing them as false and misleading.
In a statement by its Chief Press Secretary, Adebayo Oyetola, the Commission stressed that no timetable or schedule of activities has been issued.
INEC noted that under Section 28(1) of the Electoral Act, 2022, it can only publish a Notice of Election within 360 days to the election, making any purported timetable currently in circulation fake.
The Commission assured Nigerians that the official timetable will be released at the appropriate time and communicated strictly through INEC’s official channels, urging the public and media to ignore the false reports.
