A Federal High Court in Abuja has denied bail to the Bauchi State Commissioner for Finance, Yakubu Adamu, and three other defendants over terrorism financing charges filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Although Justice Emeka Nwite had on Friday last week granted Adamu bail in the sum of ₦500 million with two sureties in like sum in a separate money-laundering case involving an alleged ₦4.6 billion, the court declined to extend the same relief in the terrorism financing matter.
The denial means that Adamu and the co-accused will remain in custody pending the determination of the terrorism financing charges, which are being prosecuted independently of the money-laundering case.
