Family members, friends and institutions where Professor Adamu David Baikie served are set to hold an Evening of Tributes and Orations in his honour on January 15.
Professor Baikie, a foremost educationist who made immense contributions to higher education in Nigeria and beyond, passed on December 12 at the age of 94 and has since been laid to rest.
According to a statement by the Chairman of the Project Implementation Committee, Walter Miller University (Proposed), Senator Tunde Ogbeha, the event will attract participants from across the globe and will take place at the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Event Centre, Abuja.
The programme will feature tributes, orations and a short drama presentation celebrating the life, achievements and enduring legacy of the late professor.
Professor Baikie was the first Professor of Education from Northern Nigeria. He served as Vice-Chancellor of the University of Benin (1978–1986), the National University of Lesotho (1988–1996), and later as the pioneer Vice-Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi.
