Police operatives attached to the Assakio Division, in collaboration with local vigilantes, have raided kidnappers’ hideouts in Angara and Fadaman Bauna villages in Lafia East Development Area of Lafia Local Government Area, Nasarawa State, arresting six suspected kidnappers and rescuing three victims.
The victims — two females and one male — were rescued unhurt and reunited with their families.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Ramhan Nansel, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists in Lafia on Friday.
According to him, the operation followed a complaint lodged on January 7, 2026, that armed men stormed Angara village, abducted two females and abandoned an infant. The same gang later returned to kidnap a male resident of the community.
“Acting on the report, the Commissioner of Police, Nasarawa State Command, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, ordered an immediate manhunt for the suspects, leading to their arrest and the successful rescue of the victims,” Nansel said.
He added that the suspects have confessed to the crime and have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and prosecution.
The police commissioner assured residents of the command’s sustained crackdown on criminal activities across the state.
