Osborn Umahi, son of the Minister of Works, David Umahi, has obtained the nomination and expression of interest forms of the All Progressives Congress to contest the chairmanship of Ohaozara Local Government Area ahead of the August local government elections in Ebonyi State.
Mr Umahi picked the forms on Friday at the party’s state secretariat along Waterworks Road, Abakaliki, accompanied by serving and former members of the State Executive Council, past and present council chairmen, stakeholders from Ohaozara, and a large crowd of supporters.
He was received by members of the APC State Executive Committee, led by the party chairman, Stanley Okoro-Emegha, who described Osborn Umahi as an intelligent and dynamic young politician with the capacity to advance development in the local government area.
Okoro-Emegha also noted that Governor Francis Nwifuru has continued to promote youth inclusion in governance by creating opportunities for young people to participate actively in the administration of the state.
Speaking to journalists, Osborn Umahi thanked stakeholders and residents of Ohaozara for the support and nomination, pledging to prioritise human capital development, grassroots development, infrastructure, and security if elected.
He commended Governor Nwifuru for empowering youths in governance and assured that he would justify the confidence reposed in him. Osborn also pledged to build on the infrastructure legacy of his father, noting that the combined efforts of Senator David Umahi and Governor Nwifuru have contributed significantly to the transformation of Ebonyi State.
