Uganda’s President, Yoweri Museveni, has been re-elected for a seventh term, according to the country’s electoral commission.
Museveni, 81, secured victory with 71.65 percent of the vote, the commission announced on Saturday.
His main challenger, opposition figure Bobi Wine (real name Robert Kyagulanyi), 43, came second with 24.72 percent of the vote.
Museveni has ruled Uganda since 1986, making him one of Africa’s longest-serving leaders.
