President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated the Nigerian national football team, the Super Eagles, on their bronze medal victory at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The President commended the team for their resilience and determination after bouncing back from the disappointment of their semi-final defeat to host nation Morocco.
The Super Eagles defeated seven-time champions Egypt in a thrilling third-place match, securing victory via a penalty shootout after dominating the encounter during regulation time.
President Tinubu praised the players for once again showcasing the enduring spirit of Nigeria through their performance.
He said:
“Despite their impressive run in the tournament, the Super Eagles suffered a painful semi-final defeat to Morocco on penalties last Wednesday, dashing our hopes of reaching the final.
“However, our players remained undaunted. Displaying the resilience and fighting spirit of the Nigerian people, they rose to the occasion and earned a well-deserved bronze medal.
“We are proud of them as they receive their hard-earned medal on Sunday in Rabat, Morocco.
“Thank you, our gallant Super Eagles. Thank you, our national team players. This bronze medal surely feels like gold.”
