The President, Warri Chamber of Commerce, Industry ,Mines and Agriculture,WACCIMA,Engr. Anthony Okoh JP said Niger Delta leaders are the reasons why business is not driving in the region just as he called for a change of mindset.

Engr.Okoh made the assertion when members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists,NUJ Warri Correspondents’ Chapel paid the Chamber a courtesy visit in Effurun,Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State.

He lamented the dart of businesses of industries and business concerns in spite of its abundant oil and gas natural resources.

He said Warri in particular and other stars in the region were business hub in the past decades and decried what has become of the region in the two recent decades.

He decried the total abandonment of ports in the region while concentrating on Lagos for importation of goods in the country. He thereby called on businessmen/women in the region towards using the ports in their domain.

Engr. Okoh who was flanked by Barr. Bismark Ighorodje, Mr. Ovie Okome, Mr. Imhansuengbon Patrick and Mrs. Rachael.I. Ederughe added that the concentration of Lagos ports has remained the reasons why roads don’t last as he called for construction of rail transportation to ease the movements of goods.

He advised governments of the Niger region I emulate the deliberate investment steps taken by the Enugu State Governor in looking inwards and reviving the industries in the State.

“Governor has defied federal order by looking inwards to maximize the opportunity of abundant coal resources in the State to generate electricity. He has revived so many industries that were moribund before he came into power”.

According to WACCimA president this is to enhance the livelihood of the citizens of the State. He reminded the government of the region in the need to partner private sectors in their states as relying on political appointees alone will not yield the desired results.
