Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on Tuesday held a closed-door meeting with former Military President, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (rtd), at his private hilltop residence in Minna, the Niger State capital.
Atiku arrived at the residence a few minutes after 1:00pm and was immediately ushered into a private session with the former leader.
About 40 minutes later, Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, arrived and joined the ongoing meeting, fueling speculations over high-level political consultations ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Although details of the meeting were not disclosed, the presence of key political figures across different regions of the country has intensified discussions about possible realignments, alliances, and strategic consultations within the opposition camp.
Neither Atiku nor Makinde addressed journalists after the meeting, while sources at the residence described the discussion as “strategic and far-reaching.”
The development comes amid increasing behind-the-scenes engagements among major political actors as permutations for 2027 continue to gather momentum.
