Former presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has said he was not certain of securing the presidential ticket of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a viral video circulating on social media, Obi told supporters that while many had asked about his chances within the party, he could not guarantee clinching the ticket, stressing that his commitment was driven by a broader national cause rather than personal ambition.
He noted that his focus remained on the ongoing political movement, questioning how the current situation evolved and what could happen if efforts toward change were abandoned.
Obi also reaffirmed his dedication to his ideals despite reported threats, assuring supporters that such challenges would not deter him from pursuing his vision.
He expressed appreciation to his supporters for their loyalty and sacrifices, acknowledging the difficulties associated with being in opposition in Nigeria, especially without immediate rewards.
However, the former Anambra State governor raised concerns about uncertainties within political alliances, noting that trust among stakeholders remained fragile.
According to him, “there is no assurance” that current political allies would remain committed in the future, highlighting the unpredictable nature of Nigeria’ s political landscape.
