The Delta State Police Command has strongly condemned an alleged incident of sexual assault captured in disturbing viral videos from Oramudu Quarters in Ozoro, Isoko North Local Government Area.
It also confirmed the arrest of five persons, including the chief organizer of the now controversial festival.
In a statement issued on Friday, the Command said the videos, which surfaced from a purported local event, showed acts of sexual molestation involving young women—an incident it described as criminal, inhumane, and a gross violation of human dignity.
The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, Aina Adesola, upon receiving the report, immediately ordered a full-scale investigation into the matter.
Police authorities confirmed the arrest of the alleged chief organiser of the event, identified as Chief Omorede Sunday, alongside four other suspects in connection with the incident.
The case has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation, as directed by the Commissioner of Police.
The Command disclosed that tactical and investigative teams have been deployed to identify and apprehend other individuals involved, with a clear mandate to ensure their prosecution.
The Police also called on victims and members of the public with useful information to come forward, assuring that all information provided would be treated with strict confidentiality and professionalism.
While urging residents to remain calm and law-abiding, CP Adesola reassured the public of the Command’s commitment to protecting lives, upholding citizens’ rights, and maintaining public order across the state.
The Command reiterated its firm stance against sexual violence, vowing that all perpetrators involved in the Ozoro incident would be brought to justice in accordance with the law.
