The Member Representing Etsako Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Hon. Anamero Dekeri (DANCO), has reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that the Bill for the establishment of the Federal College of Education (Technical), Ogute-Okpella, which he sponsored, will become a reality during his tenure at the National Assembly.
The Bill, which is titled “A Bill for an Act to amend the Federal College of Education Establishment Bill to establish the Federal College of Education (Technical) in Okpella, Edo State,” is one among his many pursuits of sustainable development in the Federal Constituency.
DANCO in a statement by his media office, emphasized that technical education remains a potent tool for poverty reduction.
According to him, the higher institution when established in Okpella, will play a critical role in bridging the skills gap and improve the standard of living of the people, serving as a potent tool against poverty and unemployment. “In China and more advanced nations of the World, technical institutions have proven effective in tackling joblessness by equipping artisans, technicians, and technologists with practical skills in sectors such as fashion, technology, construction, mining, and manufacturing.”
“I will continue to deploy the full weight of legislative instruments, particularly private members’ bills, to deliver landmark legislation with effective collaboration with fellow lawmakers to address underdevelopment in Etsako land through resolutions and other parliamentary mechanisms. The will of Parliament will be mobilized in favour of Etsako Federal Constituency at this critical point to advance our economic, social, and political wellbeing.” he said.
In a statement issued by his Media Aide, Benjamin Atu, the lawmaker further assured that the proposed Federal College of Education (Technical) would significantly reduce unemployment by equipping youths with practical, job-ready skills, especially in an industrial heavy environment like Okpella. He noted that the institution would accelerate local economic growth, minimize reliance on external labour, and ensure that indigenous youths are positioned to benefit directly from industrial activities within their environment.
“This Bill, when passed into law, Hon. Anamero Dekeri DANCO would have succeeded in addressing the issues of insecurity, combating crime, and social instability, which are caused by unemployment, as youths will now be equipped with productive skills to keep them engaged while promoting peace in the community. Foreigners will no longer take over the jobs of Afemai youths, as our youths who lack the needed skills required for available jobs would be trained,” the statement assured.
