Senator Ned Nwoko( APC, Delta North) has declared that placing over 500 students on his scholarship scheme remains his most impactful empowerment initiative, as he formally announced his intention to seek re-election for the Delta North Senatorial seat in 2027.

Speaking to journalists on his arrival at Asaba Airport alongside former Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege, Nwoko said while the 2027 contest may be open to all aspirants, he is confident of victory based on his performance and continued support from the Anioma people.

Highlighting his achievements, the senator emphasized that investing in education through scholarships stands out as a sustainable way to uplift constituents.

According to him, empowering young people academically creates long-term benefits for families and communities.

“I can’t have 500 students on scholarship and you talk about empowerment. That is the best form of empowerment you can give to the people,” he said.

Nwoko maintained that his legislative efforts have consistently focused on addressing key needs in Delta North, including power supply, water infrastructure, road connectivity, and educational development.

He pointed to ongoing advocacy for improved electricity through the Okpai Power Plant, completion of the Ogwashi-Uku Dam, and the proposed coastal road linking major Delta communities.

Reaffirming his commitment to the creation of Anioma State, he referenced earlier remarks by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, expressing confidence that the state would eventually be realized with Asaba as its capital.

The senator also reiterated his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, stating that he aligns with the administration’s policies and believes in its national direction.

Addressing supporters who gathered to welcome him, Nwoko urged them to remain steadfast and avoid a return to what he described as “olden days politics,” stressing the need to build on progress already made in the region.

Following his declaration, Nwoko and his entourage proceeded to Obior to attend the funeral of former Delta State Deputy Governor, Chief Benjamin Elu
