Warri South APC: Urhobo demand equity, seek party chairmanship ahead of 2026 congresses
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State has officially debunked a purported list of adopted consensus candidates for the State House of Assembly elections, describing it as “fake, unauthorized, and misleading.”

In a strongly worded statement issued on May 4, 2026, the party said it had been “inundated with reports” of a list circulating widely on social media, falsely presented as an official document of the party.

“We state unequivocally and without reservation that this list is fake, unauthorized, and does not emanate from the Party in any form whatsoever,” the statement read.

The APC accused those behind the publication of deliberately attempting to create confusion within its ranks and mislead party faithful, aspirants, and the general public. According to the party, the circulation of such a list is a calculated move aimed at undermining its internal processes.

Describing the development as a “deliberate fabrication,” the party emphasized6 that no consensus list has been approved or ratified by its leadership in Delta State.

“For the avoidance of doubt… no list of candidates has been discussed, adopted, or ratified by the leadership of the Party in Delta State. Any claim to the contrary is false and should be treated with the contempt it deserves,” the statement added.

The party reaffirmed its commitment to due process, noting that although it had indicated a preference for the consensus mode of primaries in line with its constitution and guidelines, the process remained ongoing and incomplete.

It stressed that the sale and submission of nomination and expression of interest forms are still in progress, making any claim of finalized candidates premature and misleading.

“The Party cannot be seen to have purportedly adopted candidates while this process is yet to conclude,” the statement noted, warning that such claims are “an affront to the Party’s commitment to due process, fairness, and internal democracy.”

The APC distanced itself entirely from the circulating list, urging stakeholders to disregard it and rely only on verified party communications.

“Delta APC… firmly and completely disassociates itself from the said list in its entirety,” the statement declared.

In addition, the party issued a stern warning to those responsible for spreading the information, cautioning them to desist from actions capable of destabilizing party unity.

“We caution those behind this mischief to desist immediately from actions capable of undermining the unity and integrity of our Party,” it said.

Reiterating its stance, the party assured members and the public of its resolve to conduct a transparent and credible primary election process.

“Delta APC remains resolute in conducting a credible, transparent, and inclusive primary process, and no amount of propaganda or fabrication will derail this commitment.”

The statement was signed by the Delta State APC Publicity Secretary, Valentine Onojeghuo Esq., who urged all stakeholders to seek information only from official and authorized party channels.
