The Warri Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists on Tuesday sought strategic partnership with Manroy Global Services Limited to boost capacity building, welfare and productivity of members.
The delegation, led by the Chairman of the chapel, Comrade Akpokona Omafuaire, visited the company in Warri as part of activities to introduce the newly elected executive to key stakeholders and organisations.
Speaking during the visit, Omafuaire said the current leadership emerged after the chapel’s election held on March 16, 2026, adding that the visit became necessary to deepen collaboration with organisations willing to support the media.
“Following the successful election, the chapel deemed it necessary to formally engage organisations and individuals willing to partner with the media,” he said.
The NUJ chairman noted that members of the chapel represented various national newspapers and media organisations across the country.
He added that the union remained committed to professionalism, agenda-setting journalism and effective dissemination of information.
Omafuaire also appealed to the company to support the chapel in areas such as capacity building, internet facilities, transportation and welfare for members.
According to him, there was an urgent need for regular training and retraining of journalists, especially in Artificial Intelligence, because of the rapidly evolving media landscape.
He recalled that the chapel recently secured a permanent secretariat through the support of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited.
Responding, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Manroy Global Services Limited, Mr Mike Taniowho, assured the delegation of the company’s readiness to partner with the chapel.
Taniowho described the company as a subsidiary of Arthur Ferdinand Limited, noting that it had remained committed to community development and corporate social responsibility initiatives.
“We remain committed to impacting lives positively and contributing to societal development,” he said.
He urged the chapel to properly outline its requests for consideration, expressing optimism that both organisations would build a productive relationship for mutual growth.
Also speaking, a Director of the company, Silver Ofugara, commended journalists for their role in informing society and promoting development.
He disclosed that the company had undertaken several community projects, including donation of transformers, educational support for schools and medical outreach programmes.
“There was a particular outreach where the company sponsored the surgery of a man who was almost blind. Today, the beneficiary has regained his sight and returned to work,” Ofugara said.
He assured the chapel of the company’s support towards enhancing the efficiency and productivity of journalists.
