Three members of the the house of representatives have defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The notices of defection were read by Tajudeen Abbas, the speaker of the house of representatives, during Wednesday’s plenary.
Rabilu Bala, who represents Jama’are/Itas-Gadau federal constituency of Bauchi, defected from the APC to the PRP, while Abubakar Zango (Yola north/Yola south/Gire federal constituency, Adamawa) and Abdullahi El-Rasheed (Dukku/Nafada federal constituency, Gombe) left the ruling party for the ADC, respectively.
The lower legislative chamber has witnessed a series of defections since the beginning of the year, ahead of the 2027 elections.
On Tuesday, eight lawmakers defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).
Three lawmakers also moved from the APC to the PDP and the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
