According to a report by DAILY POST on Monday 15th June 2026, the General Overseer of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has predicted that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar currently has a significant edge in the race for Nigeria’s presidency in 2027.
Speaking during a church service on Sunday, the cleric said Atiku’s path to victory is not guaranteed, warning that several political factors could derail his ambition if he fails to adopt a more aggressive political strategy.
Ayodele described President Bola Tinubu as a highly ambitious and determined politician who should not be underestimated ahead of the next election cycle.
According to him, support for Tinubu in Northern Nigeria has weakened, creating an opportunity for Atiku to consolidate his influence across the region; He added that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) would likely embark on extensive reconciliation efforts to regain the confidence of northern voters.
“The presidency is presently within Atiku’s reach, but there are obstacles that could stand in his way if he continues to approach politics as a gentleman,” Ayodele said.
The cleric also expressed concerns about Tinubu’s health, urging those close to the president to pay greater attention to his wellbeing.
He further claimed that northern political forces are gradually aligning behind Atiku, a development he believes could shape the outcome of the 2027 presidential election.
