Former Director-General of Atiku Youth Wing and now Director General of The Bridge for Renewed Hope, Hon. Rowland Odih, has on Wednesday commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for championing the State Police Bill, describing the initiative as a bold and timely step towards strengthening Nigeria’s security architecture and addressing the nation’s evolving security challenges.
In a statement signed by the Media Office of the Bridge For Renewed Hope; Hon. Rowland said the proposed State Police framework as championed by President Tinubu aligns with the realities of modern policing and reflects the President’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
According to him, empowering States to complement federal security efforts will enhance intelligence gathering, improve rapid response to security threats, and deepen community-based policing across the country.
“The State Police Bill represents a major milestone in Nigeria’s democratic and security evolution. President Tinubu has by this historic Bill, once again demonstrated courageous leadership by supporting reforms that will bring security closer to the people and strengthen national unity through effective governance,” Rowland stated.
He noted that insecurity remains one of the greatest challenges confronting national development and economic growth in recent times, not just in Nigeria but also Africa and across the world, stressing that the establishment of State Police would provide a more localised and efficient approach to tackling criminal activities, insurgency, kidnapping, banditry, and other security concerns.
Hon. Rowland therefore called on members of the National Assembly to rise above partisan considerations and expedite legislative action on the bill in the overall interest of national security and sustainable development.
“I urge distinguished Senators and Honourable Members of the House of Representatives to give the State Police Bill the urgent attention it deserves. The security of Nigerians must remain a top national priority, and this legislation offers a practical pathway to achieving that goal,” he said.
He further emphasized that the successful passage of the bill would stand as another landmark achievement of the Tinubu administration and a significant contribution to the realization of the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Hon. Rowland reaffirmed the commitment of The Bridge for Renewed Hope to supporting policies and reforms that promote national stability, economic prosperity, and good governance for all Nigerians.
