Former Director-General of Atiku Youth Wing and nkw the Director-General of The Bridge for Renewed Hope, Hon. Rowland Odih, has on Saturday commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for signing the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) Act, 2026 into law, describing it as a historic milestone in Nigeria’s journey toward a modern, secure, and digitally driven economy.
In a statement issued in Abuja by the media office of the Bridge For Renewed Hope, Hon. Rowland said the enactment of the new NIMC Act demonstrates President Tinubu’s unwavering commitment to institutional reforms that will strengthen governance, improve service delivery, enhance national security, and position Nigeria for the opportunities of the digital age.
According to him, the new law is a game-changer because it provides a stronger legal foundation for Nigeria’s digital identity system, safeguards citizens’ personal data, improves identity verification, promotes financial inclusion, facilitates seamless access to government services, and strengthens efforts to combat identity theft, fraud, terrorism, and other criminal activities.
Hon. Rowland noted that millions of Nigerians stand to benefit from a more efficient and reliable identity management system that will simplify access to banking services, healthcare, education, social intervention programmes, passport processing, telecommunications, and other essential public and private sector services.
He further stated that by modernising the country’s identity infrastructure, President Tinubu has once again demonstrated visionary leadership and a determination to lay lasting foundations for sustainable economic growth, innovation, and national development under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
“The signing of the NIMC Act is yet another bold reform that reflects President Tinubu’s readiness to build strong institutions capable of serving Nigerians efficiently in an increasingly digital world. This legislation will improve transparency, reduce fraud, strengthen national security, and create greater confidence in Nigeria’s digital economy,” Rowland said.
Hon. Rowland therefore called on Nigerians to continue supporting President Tinubu and his administration, stressing that the reforms being implemented today are laying the foundation for a more prosperous, secure, and globally competitive Nigeria.
He urged citizens across the country to rally behind President Tinubu and support his re-election in the 2027 Presidential Election to ensure the continuity of transformational policies and reforms that are already delivering long-term benefits for the nation.
