…..Says patriotism, not religion, is Nigeria’s greatest challenge
Leading APC support group, The Bridge For Renewed Hope has on Saturday commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for renominating Vice President Kashim Shettima as his running mate for the 2027 presidential election.
The group described the decision as a demonstration of confidence in the competence and capacity of Vice President Kashim Shettima. It further described the decision as being in the interest of national unity.
According to Hon. Rowland Odih, the group’s Director-General, the Tinubu-Shettima partnership has remained focused on delivering the Renewed Hope Agenda despite the numerous inherited challenges confronting the nation.
Hon. Rowland Odih who is the former Atiku Youth Wing Director-General and now Director-General of The Bridge for Renewed Hope; added that the administration has continued to pursue reforms aimed at strengthening the economy, improving security, expanding infrastructure, and creating opportunities for Nigerians.
Speaking on the debate surrounding the Muslim-Muslim ticket, Hon. Rowland said Nigeria’s fundamental challenge is not religion but a lack of patriotism among some citizens.
“The greatest problem facing Nigeria is not religion, ethnicity, or region differences. Our greatest challenge is the absence of patriotism among some Nigerians. Once leaders and citizens place Nigeria above personal, ethnic, or religious interests, our nation will continue to make remarkable progress,” Hon. Rowland said in a statement signed and made available by the media office of The Bridge for Renewed Hope.
The group noted that leadership should be evaluated based on competence, commitment, integrity, and the ability to deliver results rather than on religious affiliation.
“President Tinubu’s decision to retain Vice President Kashim Shettima reflects confidence in a tested partnership that has remained committed to national development. Nigerians should judge leaders by their performance, vision, and dedication to the country,” the group said.
The group therefore called on Nigerians across all religious, ethnic, and political backgrounds to rally behind the Tinubu-Shettima ticket, describing it as a strong and experienced team capable of consolidating ongoing reforms and sustaining national development.
“We call on all Nigerians to support the Tinubu-Shettima ticket in 2027. It is a ticket built on experience, stability, and continuity. Together, we can consolidate the gains of the Renewed Hope Agenda and build a more prosperous Nigeria for present and future generations,” the group further said.
