….Demands Immediate Government Action
The House of Representatives Candidate for Apa/Agatu Federal Constituency under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Hon. Solomon Eigege, has strongly condemned the brutal attacks reportedly carried out by suspected armed herders on the Otukpo-Nobi community in Okete and the Akpachi-Ugboju community, both in Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State.
Hon. Eigege described the attacks as a senseless and barbaric act of violence that has once again plunged innocent families into grief and fear. He expressed his heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and to everyone affected by the tragic incident.
He said the recurring attacks on peaceful communities in Benue South have become unacceptable and called on the Federal Government and the Benue State Government to rise to their constitutional responsibility of protecting the lives and property of citizens.
Hon. Eigege called for the immediate deployment of security personnel to the affected communities and other vulnerable areas across Benue South. He urged security agencies to conduct a thorough investigation, ensure that all those responsible for the attacks—including anyone found to have aided or sponsored them are identified, arrested, and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
He further appealed to both the Federal and Benue State Governments, as well as humanitarian agencies, to provide urgent relief materials, medical care, to support the victims and displaced families whose homes, farms, and livelihoods have been affected.
The people of Benue cannot continue to live under constant fear of violent attacks. Our people deserves the right to live in peace, cultivate their land, and pursue their livelihood without intimidation or bloodshed. The time for decisive action is now,” Hon. Eigege stated.
He prayed for the peaceful repose of the souls of those who lost their lives, for the speedy recovery of the injured, and for God’s comfort and strength upon the bereaved families.
Hon. Eigege reaffirmed his commitment to advocating for lasting peace, justice, and enhanced security across Benue South, while urging residents to remain calm, vigilant, and continue cooperating with lawful security authorities.
