America’s Public Debt profile has exceeded the $40trillion mark,( about N560.000quadrillion), following surges since the second Presidency of Donald Trump.
Figures made public on Thursday showed that, at a tally of more than $40 trillion this month, the profile had steeped most since the past decade.
The size of the debt has split public opinion in a country still at odds regarding its expensive war on Iran.
The war, now on a low ebb on account of an epileptic ceasefire, was unilaterally declared by Trump and the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, to torpedo what they termed Iran’s nuclear programme.
The war has reportedly cost America more than $250billion ( more than N350trillion) so far, and Trump, frustrated at his inability to overwhelm Iran, has announced what he termed the most crippling economic sanctions on Tehran.
Iran has dismissed the new folder of sanctions and repeatedly said it was ready to go the entire hog with America and its allies.
