The political landscape in Niger State has been agog in the last few days as posters of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Alhaji Muhammad Mamman Nami, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu flooded major towns and cities across the state.
The posters, which bore the images of both Nami and President Tinubu with inscriptions of support for the President’s re-election in 2027, were seen on streets, roundabouts, markets and government buildings in Minna, Suleja, Bida, Kontagora and other local government areas.
Supporters of the Niger Renaissance Network (NRN), a political group loyal to Nami, said the campaign materials were part of efforts to mobilize grassroots support for both the PDP flag bearer and President Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking on the development, Secretary of the group, Comrade Joshua Bulus Bala, said the posters were a reflection of the new political alignment in the state.
“This shows the direction of Niger people. Alhaji Nami has adopted President Tinubu and we are taking the message to every polling unit, ward and LGA. The posters are to sensitize the people that Niger must be delivered to Tinubu,” Bala said.
He added that Nami, who emerged as the PDP flag bearer with the adoption of stakeholders and the approval of the party’s National Leader, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, is leading the campaign for Tinubu in the state.
Bala further stated that the group believes Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago lacks the capacity to mobilize proper support for President Tinubu in Niger State, except Nami.
“Governor Bago does not have the capacity to properly mobilize for President Tinubu in Niger. It is only our candidate, Alhaji Nami, that can deliver the state for the President,” he said.
Political observers say the flooding of Nami and Tinubu posters across Niger signals a growing cross-party collaboration under the PDP’s “rainbow coalition,” and could reshape the dynamics of the 2027 elections in the North-Central.
The development comes days after the NRN declared total support for President Tinubu’s second term bid and vowed to deliver all 25 local government areas of Niger to the President.
