The Portuguese Football Federation has suspended Cristiano Ronaldo.
According to the report, the 41-year-old is facing a ban of one to six months.
The suspension is punishment for his walking out of the national team camp after his explosive fallout with head coach Jorge Jesus.
The suspension has been automatically triggered under federation rules.
It is understood that a disciplinary council will now sit to decide the length of his ban.
Despite tendering a public apology, the footballer admitted he deserved to be punished for his actions.
