The Asagba of Asaba, His Royal Majesty Prof. Epiphany Azinge, SAN, OON, FNIALS, has urged sons and daughters of Asaba, both at home and abroad, to strengthen their dedication to the development of their homeland situated along the iconic River Niger.
The royal appeal came during a courtesy visit by one of Asaba’s illustrious sons, Mr. Emmanuel Odiaka. Emphasizing the role of citizens in driving meaningful change, the Asagba noted that no one could truly champion a community’s development better than its own people. He added that while government support was valuable, it often came secondary due to competing national priorities.
Highlighting his deep appreciation for Mr. Odiaka’s contributions, the monarch recalled the groundbreaking of the Asagba of Asaba Permanent Palace Building, where Mr. Odiaka was singled out for praise. Among his efforts, Mr. Odiaka has personally funded the fencing of the expansive palace grounds, begun construction of the palace gate, donated over ₦120 million to the palace project, and is currently building offices behind the Ogwa Ukwu Ahaba.
The Asagba described Mr. Odiaka as a humble and service-driven individual who embodies the spirit of true community leadership. “With people like him,” he said, “Asaba is surely on the path to enduring greatness.”
In a media chat following the visit, Mr. Odiaka expressed gratitude to the Asagba for recognizing his contributions. He shared that his motivation stemmed from a desire to bring goodwill back to his roots and inspire others to act with integrity and vision for the collective good.
He also commended the Asagba’s leadership, describing him as a vibrant scholar and legal luminary whose wisdom and inclusive approach have brought new energy to the Asaba throne. “We are fortunate to have His Majesty at this time,” he said. “His inclusive style keeps us united and inspired to support his vision for our community’s growth.”
