Enabulele Advocates For Transformative Leadership In All Spheres Of Life

The Immediate past president of World Medical Association (WMA), Dr Osahon Enabulele has called on leaders at all levels to imbibe transformative Leadership style, which he described as a style of leadership where leaders inspire and motivate their followers to achieve a shared vision, leading to positive change within individuals.
Enabulele made this call when he spoke as a guest Lecturer at a public lecture and book lunch by the Director of Establishment, Labour and Productivity, government house, Barrister, Victor Okenini, in collaboration with John Odigie-Oyegun Public Service Academy, Edo State, Benin City.
Speaking on the topic “Critical Issues In Purposeful Leadership”, Enabulele noted that effective and purposeful leadership is determined more by what leaders do and how they act than by their class, gender, race or by certain personality traits.
He opined that transformative leadership means transcending beyond oneself to impacting positively on those around you.
Speaking on the importance of good leadership, Enabulele emphasized that if those put in positions of authority in Nigeria are able to drive effective leadership, there will be no crisis as being faced in the country today.
“We have not been able to get that good and quality leader who is able to galvanize the ethnic groups for shared values a; Leaders who are able to inspire innovations and creativity among the people.
“Purposeful leadership is that which is geared towards leaving lasting legacies. Leadership is not turn by turn thing. It is about the system that you build that outlives you”, he said.
Enabulele enumerated some effects of poor leadership in Nigeria to include; socio-economic crisis, insecurity, militancy, insurgents and conflicts, corruption and more.
He called on leaders at all levels to learn and posses attributes of good leaders which he noted includes; visionary, charismatic, alignment with people, innovation and creativity.
Speaking on the rationale behind the writing of his books, Barr. Okenini said he wrote the books titled ‘Reformulating the Policies of the Civil Service’, and ‘Effective Writing for Public Servants and Business Professionals’ to contribute and expand the existing knowledge in the Civil Service’, to deepen the understanding of Civil and Public Servants on service issues and to inspire and encourage other Civil Servants to document their knowledge and experience for posterity as he is currently doing.
Okenini assured his readers that his contributions will continue to shape the discourse on effective administration and public sector reform in Nigeria.
