You have been more than just a colleague; you have been a guiding light, a steady hand, and a source of inspiration to everyone privileged to walk this professional path alongside you.
Your career has not only been distinguished by accolades and achievements but also by the countless lives you have touched through your generosity of spirit and exemplary professionalism. As Chairman of the Correspondents Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Abuja Council, you led with honour and integrity. During your time as Political Correspondent for the Nigerian Observer, you consistently demonstrated outstanding professionalism—often breaking the news before others could catch up.
You are, without question, a good man. Your kindness and wisdom are undeniable. I am proud to be a beneficiary of your goodwill. I remember those early days when we covered the National Assembly—those turbulent ‘banana peel’ days. Having just been transferred from Enugu to Abuja by the Old Daily Times of Nigeria Plc, I was new to the terrain. But it was you, Timothy, alongside our ‘Governor’ Gboyega Amoboye of the defunct National Concord and our dearly beloved friend, the late John Abba Ogbodo of The Guardian, who welcomed me and showed me the ropes. I remain forever grateful.
I fondly remember when your daughter, Mabel, from the University of Benin, and your son, Lucky Andy, from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ife, came visiting during their school breaks. We quickly became a family. Your warmth and infectious personality endeared you to all who crossed your path. Today, your children have grown and are making you proud. May you continue to reap the fruits of your labour in peace and good health.
Even at 75, your presence remains vibrant and impactful. You continue to inspire us with your sharp insights, calm demeanor, and ability to see the broader picture when others focus only on the immediate.
