The National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), David Mark, has urged party leaders to unite and reposition the ADC as Nigeria’s foremost alternative, declaring that the nation is in urgent need of rescue from worsening insecurity and poor governance.
Speaking at the party’s 2nd National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, Mark said Nigerians are “yearning for purposeful leadership,” describing the party’s task as both “moral and historic.”
He commended members for their loyalty and sacrifices, calling for greater unity, discipline, and strict adherence to democratic principles as key to the party’s success.
In a sharp criticism of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Mark accused the government of failing to address insecurity, kidnapping, and widespread violence, warning that such threats have become “the new normal.”
“The ADC must rise to the occasion. We are ready to do things differently and make Nigeria safer,” he said.
The former Senate President also praised state chairmen for sustaining dialogue amid challenges, stressing that collaboration and strategic alliances are vital to national recovery.
At the meeting, the NEC ratified actions of the National Working Committee, approved key administrative decisions, and endorsed the timetable for upcoming congresses and primaries.
Briefing journalists, the National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, said the party reviewed current political developments and noted growing public disillusionment with the APC.
The meeting ended with a renewed commitment to deepen grassroots engagement and position the ADC as a credible platform for national renewal ahead of future elections.
