The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has accused President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of ignoring Nigeria’s worsening insecurity while indulging in political and social appearances.
In a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the party condemned what it called the President’s “brazen insensitivity” to the plight of citizens suffering under incessant banditry, abductions, and killings across multiple states.
ADC cited fresh attacks in Kwara and Kogi States, school closures across the North, and continuing mass abductions nationwide as evidence that Tinubu’s claim of progress in the security sector is “a tragic denial of reality.”
The party also dismissed the President’s recent remarks on national unity as “political rhetoric,” insisting that true unity must come from “responsible leadership and empathy, not ceremonial appearances.”
The ADC outlined a five-point action plan to rescue Nigeria from its deepening insecurity:
1. Formally acknowledge the true scale of insecurity nationwide.
2. Engage directly with affected communities and local leaders.
3. Elevate security alertness and ensure joint deployments of military, police, and local networks.
4. Commit to transparency through regular public reporting on security operations.
5. Audit federal security spending through a transparent monitoring mechanism.
Concluding, the party declared:
“Nigeria is under attack. This administration must stop treating national security as a political talking point. The time for symbolic gestures is over — what the country needs now is responsible leadership, operational urgency, and measurable results.”
