The Edo State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Prince Kassim Afegbua, has reaffirmed his commitment to promoting the interests of technology-inclined visually impaired persons, emphasizing that the Ministry operates an open-door policy that encourages active public engagement and inclusiveness.
Prince Afegbua made this known while receiving members of the Association of Technology-Inclined Visually Impaired Persons of Nigeria, who paid a courtesy visit to his office at the Ministry’s headquarters in Benin City.
According to the Ministry’s Public Relations Officer, Mary Ilobekemen, the Commissioner urged the Association to submit the names and curriculum vitae of its members to the Ministry to facilitate their consideration for upcoming employment opportunities. He assured the delegation that their concerns would be relayed to relevant government agencies for appropriate action.
Afegbua described the Association’s requests as legitimate and reiterated the commitment of Governor Monday Okpebholo to the welfare and inclusion of all citizens of Edo State.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the Association, David Iwuala, appealed to the Commissioner to support efforts aimed at securing employment opportunities for qualified members. He noted that such interventions would significantly uplift the visually impaired community and expressed confidence in the Commissioner’s willingness to positively impact their cause.
Also present at the meeting were the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Strategy, Dr. Desmond Agbama, along with other directors of the Ministry.
