The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State has dismissed viral reports claiming that former National Chairman of the party, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, has defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
In a statement issued on Friday, the party’s State Organising Secretary, Hassan Abubakar, described the reports as false, misleading and the handiwork of political detractors.
He said the claims were baseless propaganda aimed at tarnishing the image of the former governor and stirring unnecessary tension within the party.
“For the avoidance of doubt, Senator Abdullahi Adamu has not defected, contemplated defection, nor associated himself with any other political party,” Abubakar said.
He explained that the images circulating online as “evidence” of the alleged defection were taken during the ongoing APC e-membership registration and revalidation exercise, stressing that the senator was only carrying out his constitutional duty to strengthen the party’s database.
The APC described the misrepresentation as “irresponsible and politically desperate,” adding that Adamu’s loyalty and contributions to the growth, development and stability of the party remain unquestionable.
