The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Taraba State has welcomed more than 1,000 defectors from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Gassol Local Government Area.
The defectors were led by Acho Righteous, former ADC candidate for Gassol I State Assembly, and Abubakar Surajo of the PDP. Speaking at the event, Righteous cited the gains of reforms under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the recent defection of Governor Agbu Kefas into APC as motivating factors.
He also highlighted the Federal Government’s Student Loan Scheme ,popularity called NELFUND, as an example of government’s policies benefiting youths, and confirmed that all supporters had begun electronic party registration to formalize their membership.
Local APC Chairman Ibrahim Adamu assured the newcomers of full integration and equal opportunities and urged residents across the state to join the ongoing APC e-registration exercise, noting Gassol’s historic support for the party.
As part of their induction, Righteous and his supporters paid courtesy visits to traditional leaders in the area, strengthening community ties.
The development reflects the ongoing political realignment in Taraba State, positioning APC as a growing force ahead of future elections.
