The Archbishop of Christ Missionaries Crusaders Church, Archbishop Goddowell Avwomakpa, has awarded bursary support to 105 students of the church currently studying in various tertiary institutions across the country.

The event, which marked the official flag-off of the bursary scheme, was held on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at the International Headquarters of the church in Warri.

Speaking during the presentation, Archbishop Avwomakpa said the initiative was part of the church’s efforts to cushion the effects of the prevailing economic hardship on students and provide relief to parents struggling to sponsor their children and wards in higher institutions.

According to him, the church considers education an important tool for empowerment and societal development, stressing that the bursary support was a practical demonstration of the church’s commitment to the welfare and advancement of its members.

A total of 105 students benefitted from the programme, with each receiving N30,000 as bursary support.

The beneficiaries expressed excitement and appreciation to the Archbishop for the gesture, noting that the support would go a long way in assisting them with their academic needs.

The bursary presentation formed part of activities marking the church’s National Combined Service, which was held simultaneously across all district headquarters of Christ Missionaries Crusaders Church.

Delivering his sermon titled “Passion for Souls,” Archbishop Avwomakpa, drawing inspiration from Mark 1:38 and Mark 16:15, emphasized that the mission of the church remains focused on soul-winning and the spiritual development of people.

He stressed the need for members to remain committed to evangelism and service to humanity, noting that empowering people both spiritually and socially remained a key priority of the church.

The Archbishop also used the occasion to announce a forthcoming National Crusade of the church scheduled to hold in Obiaruku from March 27 to March 29, 2026.

Some of the beneficiaries, including Umunu Oghenefejiro Deborah of Delta State University, Abraka; Ejairu Clemetina; Agision Great of the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun; Ukpebor Naomi Pleasant of the College of Education, Warri; and Maika Gabriella and Okoro Great Edesiri of Petroleum Training Institute, Effurun, expressed gratitude to Archbishop Avwomakpa for the support.

They described the bursary as timely and impactful, pledging to remain focused on their studies and make the church proud through academic excellence.
