The Benue State Commissioner of the Public Complaints Commission (PCC) Chief James Oche has taken decisive action on 10 complaints in a bid to uphold administrative justice. At a case conference in Makurdi, Oche presided over cases ranging from land disputes and pension claims to job racketeering and unpaid contracts.
Among the high-profile cases was a dispute brought by the Ezza community in Ado Local Government Area, alleging that Agbo Samuel and Michael Ojah had conspired to destroy their economic trees and commit other criminal acts aimed at displacing them, while affirming that the community members were indigenous to the area. Oche postponed the case to allow further review of the submitted documents. A minute of silence was observed in memory of a girl allegedly raped and killed by some members of the respondents group.
One of the most striking cases involved allegations of job racketeering against Loretta Nungwa Alfa of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund. The complainant claimed she had collected 2.5 million naira under the pretense of securing them employment, yet failed to do so and still owed them 1.8 million naira.
Oche directed that a payment plan be drawn up, requiring Alfa to settle the debts within six months starting from June 2025.
In a rare move, Oche personally settled a thirty five thousand naira rent dispute between complainant Mercy K. Shagba and her tenant Terfa Loremba after the latter failed to make payment.
Oche commended his team for their commitment to swift justice and reaffirmed the commission’s dedication to protecting citizens’ rights while ensuring transparency in public administration.
