Congolese Football Federation President Jean-Guy Blaise Mayolas has been sentenced to life imprisonment.
Reports from Congo revealed that Blaise Mayolas was sentenced following the embezzlement of $1.3 million football funds.
The court found him guilty of large-scale corruption and financial misappropriation, according to reports published in March 2026.
The ruling concluded that Mayolas masterminded a scheme that diverted more than $1 million provided by FIFA for football development projects.
Part of the funds was intended to support grassroots initiatives, including programmes designed to expand women’s football in the country
