A member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State, Rotarian Lucky Ehiwuogwu Monye, has called on all eligible voters in Ika Federal Constituency who have not yet registered with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to take full advantage of the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR).
The CVR exercise, currently being undertaken by INEC, is primarily designed to enable individuals who have attained voting age since the 2023 general elections to be duly registered.
Monye, a renowned philanthropist and the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Monaco Ventures Nigeria Limited, described the exercise as a golden opportunity for unregistered citizens to secure their place in future electoral processes. He urged all concerned individuals not to miss this important window offered by INEC.
He commended the electoral commission for sustaining the CVR initiative and encouraged it to continue taking all necessary steps to strengthen the integrity of forthcoming elections.
According to Monye, active participation in the CVR will not only empower new registrants to become part of the nation’s active electorate—and therefore key participants in the social contract between the people and their elected leaders—but will also support accurate demographic profiling of voters within the constituency.
He noted that, in many cases, such demographic data inform government decisions on resource allocation and other development priorities.
Monye emphasized that increased turnout for the CVR in Ika Federal Constituency would produce a more reliable reflection of the constituency’s actual voting population, while also offering insight into its standing relative to other constituencies in terms of active electorate mapping across the state.
He therefore urged political leaders, traditional rulers, community structures, and other influential stakeholders across all wards in the constituency to mobilise and ensure the effective participation of eligible but unregistered residents in the CVR exercise.
