The Governor of Katsina State, Dikko Umar Radda, has commended the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigerian Army, and the Nigeria Police Force for the successful rescue of 21 kidnapped victims in the state.
The commendation was conveyed in a statement issued on Saturday by the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Dr. Nasir Mua’zu. Governor Radda praised the security agencies for the “professionalism and courage displayed during the operation.”
Details of the Operation
The victims — comprising 16 women, two men, and three babies — were rescued during a joint security operation at Dargaza Hills in Danmusa Local Government Area. They had earlier been abducted from Gidan Sarkin Bayero Village in Musawa LGA and other locations.
According to the statement:
19 of the victims are Christians
2 are Muslims
The state government noted that this underscores the indiscriminate nature of banditry and reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding all citizens, irrespective of religious affiliation.
Arrests and Ongoing Investigation
The operation, which also involved members of the State Community Watch Corps, targeted the enclave of a notorious bandit leader, Kamilu Chiroma (a.k.a. Buzaru), in the Dargaza Hills.
Four suspects were arrested during the operation and are currently undergoing investigation. The government assured that they would face the full weight of the law upon the conclusion of investigations.
Governor Radda reiterated that his administration’s commitment to ending banditry and restoring lasting peace across Katsina State remains non-negotiable, emphasizing the importance of intelligence-driven operations and continued synergy among security agencies.
