UNGA Backs 2-State Pathway In Israeli-Palestinian Saga
The United Nations General Assembly, UNGA, has voted overwhelmingly in favour of a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
A total of 142 members voted in favour of the two- state pathway, while 10 voted against.
12 members abstained.
Both Israel and America,its main backer, boycotted the session at which the vote took place.
The poll is a prelude to the planned high heel action at the upcoming session of UNGA later this month,
, at which France and Saudi Arabia hope to present their plan for the permanent resolution of the Israeli – Palestinian crisis.
Diplomats say that the formal recognition of a Palestinian State by Western powers may be a major feature of the session.
Already, France, Britain, Canada, Portugal, New Zealand and Australia have indicated interest in following through with the plan.
America, which hosts the UN in New York, has already demonstrated antagonism to the plan by denying travel visa to a delegation of the Palestinian authority .
On its part, Israel, in an apparent effort to torpedo the plan, recently bombed a meeting of the leadership of its arch rival, Hamas, during their meeting in Doha, Qatar.
The echelon of Hamas escaped the assassination attempt but five members of the group and a Qatari security official,died in the bombing.
The bombing fur which Israel admitted sole responsibility, drew the angst of the global community, with the United Nations Security Council, UNSC strongly condemning it.
The UNSC vote on the bombing yielded a rare outcome as all of Israel ‘s main backers, including America, backed the resolution of the council.
Israel recently approved the construction of more than 3,400 illegal new homes in occupied Palestinian territory as part of efforts to demarcate and separate the area from the rest of Gaza, the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem, thus making a geographically contiguous state of Palestine impossible.

3 Elderly Nuns Flee Care Centre, Return Today Abandoned Convent
Three elderly nu s have fled a medical centre in Austria and returned to an abandoned convention in the Alps.
The nuns had , in 20,22 been taken to the home run by the Catholic Church authorities of which felt they needed regular medical attention and enhanced care.
That was in 2022.
However, the nuns were apparently not comfortable with the relocation, following which they plotted their return to the convent.
Two of the nuns, Sister Bernadette and Sister Regina, said they returned to the convent to live out their vows to remain there for all of their lives.
They said that they could take take care of themselves in the abandoned convention.
Water and electricity have since been retired to the convent to ease life for the nuns.

Kirk’s Widow, Erika, Spews Defiance In First Public Statement After Husband ‘s Murder
The widow of conservative politician and activist, Charlie Kirk, Erika, has given a tearful public statement in which she seemed defiant, hinging at sustaining her murdered husband ‘, political activism.
Kirk was fatally shot at a public event at Utah Valley University, Utah, by a 22- year old sniper identified as Tyler Robinson, who was taken into custody yesterday after a two- day manhunt.
In the address, which she gave while standing beside an empty seat of her husband, Erika said the killer of her husband had ignited a fire in her and in other Americans.
Erika spoke of the love her late husband had for President Donald Trump, Vice-president J. D. Vance and America as a country, indicating that she would sustain his fiery political activism .

Sumund Flotilla Set To Resume Sail After Mystery Attack
After surviving a mystery attack, the Global Sumund Flotilla is set to sail from the Tunisian coastal port city of Bizerte enroute to Gaza.
The flotilla was attacked overnight , following which a mystery fire engulfed two of its boats.
Organisers say they suspect the fire was ignited by an incendiary material which a suspicious unidentified craft had dropped on the boats.
They say the suspect that Israel, which had attacked similar aid- bearing flotillas headed for Gaza in the past, could be responsible for the assault
The current flotilla comprises more than 50 boats carrying hundreds of activists from more than 40 countries.
Organisers say they expect more boats to join the flotilla from Tunisia where they said they had been most warmly received.
The flotilla set sail from the Spanish city of Barcelona on August 31, and had stopped over in Tunisia to refuel and for repairs, .
But even as they set sail later today on the last lap of their trip, organisers are only hoping that they can break the Israeli blockade of Gaza and deliver their cargo of food, water and medicines.
Earlier attempts by other flotillaes to reach Gaza and deliver humanitarian supplies were thwarted by Israeli troops who, in a commando style, intercepted them and detained their crew and the activists on board.
The Israeli Security Minister, Ben Gvir, has warned that the activists on board the current flotilla would be treated as terrorists.

After standing down a fill implementation of his crime crackdown campaign in Chicago, American President, Donald Trump, is now eyeing the city of Memphis as a potential point of imminent call
Trump, at a press brief in Washington on Friday, claimed that Memphis authorities had invited him to reenact the crime crackdown strategy he had deployed in Washington.
Though many dispute his claim, Trump regularly publicly lays claim to excellence in his crime fight in the capital city.
He had planned to replicate his Washington strategy in Chicago, but the vehemence of the opposition to it and doubts about its legality compelled him to rethink its promised imminent implementation.
Now, he seems to want ake it to Memphis in Tennessee, claiming he had been invited by local and state authorities .
