I Doubt If There Is Any Official Statement From Governor Bala Saying He Is Not Ready To Reconcile and Move On — Barau

According to a report by News Central TV, on Friday March 13, 2026, Khalid Barau, the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Executive Governor of Bauchi State on Empowerment, has called for calm and party-wide unity amid ongoing efforts to resolve internal fractures within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Barau addressed circulating speculations regarding Governor Bala Mohammed’s stance on the party’s national reconciliation efforts.

He emphasized that the path toward a unified front is not the responsibility of a single individual but a shared obligation for all stakeholders.

Barau urged party members and supporters to prioritize stability over divisive rhetoric, suggesting that the survival of the party’s regional and national influence depends on the conduct of its members.

“You have to be ambassadors of peace creation, you have to be ambassadors of peace,” Barau stated.

His remarks come at a sensitive time for the PDP, which has been grappling with internal leadership disputes and the fallout from recent court rulings affecting the party’s national structure.

Addressing rumors that the Bauchi State Governor might be resisting the national leadership’s calls for peace, Barau was quick to clarify that no such official position exists.

He maintained that Governor Mohammed remains committed to the progress of the party.

“I doubt much if there is any official statement coming from my governor saying that he is not ready to reconcile the party and move the party forward,” he noted.

Barau further explained that the process of healing the party’s divisions is a democratic one that involves broader consultation rather than executive fiat.

“It’s not a one-man decision. It’s a collective decision,” he added.
