Round 2 Of NIPDs
As part of his administration’s effort to boost the health ofrvesidents of Ika South Local Government Area,(LGA) particularly the children, the Chairman of the LG, Engr. Jerry Ehiwarior, on Friday flagged-off the 2nd Round of the National Immunization Plus Days (NIPDs) (Kick Polio Out of Delta).
The event, which took place at the Alisimie Health Centre, Alisimie, Agbor, was witnessed by health workers from the local government, State health officers and community stakeholders.
Engr. Ehiwarior, at the event, charged parents, guardians and other stakeholders to be active participants in the exercise which he noted was germane to the well being of the larger society.
He emphasised the importance of the National Immunization Plus Days Campaign to national development, noting that when children, who are the future leaders, are healthy and well cared for, the nation becomes stronger for it.
Ehiwarior said, “The National Immunization Plus Days Campaign is an important initiative aimed at vaccinating children aged 0-5 years in a bold and deliberate effort to kick Polio out of Ika South Local Government Area.”
He particularly charged parents to ensure that their children and wards were fully immunized to save them from the deadly disease of polio.
The Chairman urged them to increase the tempo of awareness and ensure that the children are protected, assuring that the fight to kick out polio from Ika South was a collective one.
He thanked the health team for their unwavering commitment to ensuring that the exercise was a success, and assured that Ika South LG, under his watch, would continue to support health programmes and initiatives aimed at improving the lives of the people.
At the event, Chief Augustine Apaokwueze, Agbasogun of Agbor, commended Engr. Ehiwarior, for the many achievements his administration had recorded in the last one year since assumption of office.
He disclosed that the leadership of Alisimie community had embarked on what he term, “strategic” community advocacy in the battle against polio in the area.
The Agbosogun added, ‘We are very grateful to our wonderful and highly performing Council Chairman who has not rested on his oars in the pursuit of a better and prosperous Ika South.”
The Vice Chairman of Ika South, who also functions as Supervisor for Health, hailed her boss, Engr. Ehiwarior, as a proactive leader whose development imprints, she said, were ubiquitous across the LGA.
She appreciated the Chairman for his strong support for the health department, and promised to always work, with officers of the department, to enthrone a healthy Ika South.
