A Frontline philanthropist and security expert, Mr lucky Ehiwuogwu Monye, has lauded teachers on the occasion of Teacher’s Day .
Monye,in a statement to that effect, noted the invaluable contributions of teachers to the development of society and human civilization.
He called for greater encouragement for teachers.
Monye, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Monaco Ventures Nigeria Limited,said that the role of teachers in the education sector and the overall development of the society could not be over -emphasized.
Describing teachers as the soul and conscience of the education sector and the pivot upon which human civilization revolved, Monye noted that the quality and pace of the sustainable development of the society was tied to the quality and efficiency of its teachers, at whatever level.
He likened teachers to the quality control personnel in the vital education sector, and called for their enhanced motivation.
He suggested that such motivation could come by way of the implementation of a special salary and terms of service for them, as well as frequent on- the – job training fur them.
According to him, there should also be a culture of handsome annual merit awards for the best performing teachers at all levels.
Monye stressed that enhanced motivation would encourage them to produce competitive and creative personnel to meet the needs of industry and nation- building.
