The Northern Nigeria Minorities Group has applauded the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for her remarkable initiative in raising ₦20.5 billion through the Oluremi @65 Education Fund to complete the long-abandoned National Library project.
In a statement signed by its Convener, Chief Jacob Edi (Kakaki Bassa-Nge), the group described the move as historic, noting that Senator Tinubu is the first Nigerian First Lady to use her influence to champion a national project of such magnitude and enduring public value.
The statement highlighted that the First Lady’s focus on education and youth empowerment distinguishes her from her predecessors, who often prioritized personal or political interests.
“This quiet revolution reflects transparency, patriotism, and vision. By reviving a project abandoned for over 20 years, Her Excellency has rekindled a culture of reading and safeguarded the future of Nigerian youths,” the group stated.
The group further urged wives of governors across the federation to emulate Senator Tinubu’s example by initiating people-oriented projects that bring direct benefits to their states and citizens.
