The Chief Press Secretary to the Delta State Governor, Olorogun Festus Ahon, has praised the spirit of unity and cooperation displayed at the South-South zonal congress of the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing it as a strong foundation for future electoral success in the region.
Speaking shortly after the congress, Ahon commended party leaders, governors, and stakeholders for setting aside differences to build a cohesive political front ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He described the gathering as a “congress of unity and consolidation,” noting that it marked a significant moment in the political history of the South-South, with all states in the region now aligning under the APC.
Ahon attributed the peaceful conduct of the congress to the collective resolve of party leaders, stressing that their decision to collaborate reflects strategic foresight, especially given the region’s contribution to Nigeria’s economy.
“As a zone that contributes significantly to the nation’s economy, it is only logical to align with the party at the centre,” he said.
He further applauded governors and other political actors in the region for what he termed a bold step toward strengthening ties with the Federal Government, adding that such alignment would accelerate development and help actualize the aspirations of the people.
The governor’s spokesman also charged the newly elected zonal executives to sustain the prevailing unity by promoting peace, love, and inclusiveness within party ranks.
He emphasized that maintaining cohesion would be critical to the APC’s chances of delivering the South-South in the 2027 polls.
Ahon highlighted the high-level participation at the congress, noting the presence of governors, the President of the Senate, members of the National Assembly, state legislators, and other key stakeholders as evidence of a united and focused party structure in the region.
He further stated that the success of the congress sends a clear signal of the APC’s growing strength and readiness to consolidate its foothold in the South-South.
